Road to Success

“Success” has a different meaning for different people. It might mean wisdom, money, recognition, fame and so on. In my opinion success denotes achieving one’s goals. Thus anyone can be successful. Anyone can achieve their aim. Anyone can walk on the road to success. There is no secret of success. Nobody is born successful. Its the qualities and skills which make a person successful.

Now here is a test to check your direction on your road to success. In the end it will also suggest where to improve, in order to increase your chances of being successful. So lets begin –

1. Are you passionate about something ?

Do you like doing something, without which your existence is meaningless ? Is there some skill or hobby which you love doing ? Do you have a goal to achieve in life ? Is there something which you would happily do even if you are woken at midnight ?

If yes goto page 2 otherwise goto page 3.

I

I may not be the smartest person
But i am witty enough

I may not be the most beautiful
But my heart is pure enough

I may not be the most intelligent person
But i am clever enough

I may not always act as expected
But my intentions are good enough

I may not always stand up to your expectations
Because i try to stand up to my standards

I may not always say what you want to hear
But my feelings are always true enough

I may sometimes behave in a childish way
But my thoughts are mature enough

I may not have dozens of friends
But my few besties are close enough

I may not always be a winner
But efforts are always good enough

I may not be perfect
But i am happy the way i am !

Our limits are limitless

We build our own limits. We imagine what we can do and what we cant. We decide how much we can work and how much we can play. We decide what is feasible and what is not feasible for us. We define our own deadlines and limitations.

But it is all our own thinking. Everything is possible. We are capable of doing bigger things than the things we can ever imagine doing. Nothing is impossible.

All that is needed is to take a step outside our limits. Ya, just one step. And we start realizing our true potential. We understand that we can do a lot more than our preconceived limitations. We can work more than we think we can work. We can achieve more than we think we can achieve. We can get everything we have ever dreamt as well as the things we have not dreamt yet.

We must come forward and take risks. We must be ready to face challenges. Sometimes its fun to challenge ourselves more than challenging others. In this way we can discover our own hidden talents and capabilities. It feels great to break our own records.

If we know that everything is possible, then why sit back ? Why to feel miserable due to self imposed limits ? Just one step out of our comfort zone, and we are enlightened. Its time that we realize our true potential. Its time to reach for the stars. Its time to discover ourselves. Its time to be proud of our capabilities. Its time to wake up and make our life the way we want it to be !

New Life —> New Beginning

An end and a fresh start.
Bulls eye struck by my dart.
Hope everything goes on well
In these thoughts i constantly dwell.

A new beginning leads to change.
It seems a bit frightening and strange.
Hope to get adapted pretty soon.
Wish everything turns out to be a boon.

A new city, a different culture
All will lead to a bright future.
New connections, new friends.
People on whom i can depend.

I want to learn, i want to grow
In comp science i wanna be a pro
Dream of reaching the unreached height
Ready to do my best with all my might

I promise to always focus on my aim.
Wanna earn fame, money and name.
I promise to be strong & to never give up
Always to view life like a half filled cup

Things have always been good for me
Hope that it always continues to be
Whatever i deserve i want to get
As well as things i haven’t dream’t yet !

My Library – My Den

Do you know the best place which i loved the most at my college ??? “My Library” 🙂 Believe me its like a heaven for a book lover like me. My Library was My Den. The place where i could go and find happiness and joy 🙂 Here i am using past tense because my college is over now and i am missing “My Den” a lot 😦 I would like to share a few things about my library here.

Library & Learning Center

Here i would point that the Library and Learning Center is the best in Gujarat and i am sure one of the best in India. It has an enormous collection of books. Almost all magazines about which i have heard and many even unheard are subscribed. There are around 30-35 computers in the learning center where one can surf the internet. Also you can get a headphone from the help desk and listen to lectures, and study at your own pace.

There are soooo many CDs and DVDs which can be borrowed for a day. I found some interesting stuff here. There are both educational as well as recreational CDs.

Lets come to my most favorite place in library. The General Reading Books Section. There is a big bookshelf full of general books. A dreamland for me 🙂 Any time i went there i always found an interesting book to read! Yes Always 🙂 I have read sooo many books like – I Dare, Chicken Soup for the Soul, You can Win, Angels and Demons, The fountainhead, Around the world in 60 Days and many more. Actually the list is endless. How can i even recall all the books that i have read in four years 🙂 But i can say that I read almost all the books in the general section.

The General Books’ Shelf

The magazine section attracted me by my favorite Readers’ Digest, Inside Outside (dreamt about my future home :)), Life Positive, Digit, Gadget and many more. In the reference section there was always a copy of a book available as it was “Not for Issue”. So one could get even the ‘in demand’ books here.

Magazines

The projects section contained the project reports of our seniors and now ours as well 🙂 This was the most in demand place in the last semester, to refer others projects 🙂

Project Reports

Are you a chess lover ??? Then you won’t believe that you can officially play chess in our library. Just ask for chess set at the help desk and play it ‘silently’ with your partner. Amazing right 🙂 What more can you ask for in a Library ?

Almost all the festivals and days are celebrated here. From Diwali to Holi, from Teachers’ Day to World Environment Day. We even celebrated Friendship Day in the most unique way. Since books are known to be a man’s best friend so we had new collection of books as a gift and we had to write about our favorite book on colored bits of paper and pin it on a big board. These were some of the best moments at library.

The new arrivals used to be kept on a separate table for everyone to see. It was my happiest sight in library and then i would spend hours with the new books and deciding which book i should get issued first.

New Arrivals

All this has been possible due to the hard work and persistent efforts put in by our Librarian Sheetal Mam and the complete library team. They work together like a big family. Sheetal Mam is one of the best person i have ever met. She was always available and has supported and helped us in her own unique ways. A person whom you can look up to in both happy as well as sad times. Miss you a lot Mam! Specially those long discussions and talks. You have the special ability to make someone’s day 🙂

I miss my den a lot. Those sunlit tables, those cool wooden floors, interesting new books, those chess games, those happy reading times, its hardly a month since i left and i am already missing it all ! Library was “My Zone” in college. It will always be there in my heart.

It feels Good

It feels good
To give/get a hug
It feels good
To drink coffee from a (big) mug

It feels good
To gaze a starry night
It feels good
To fight for right

It feels good
To get a deserving prize
It feels good
To hear a newborn’s cries

It feels good
To listen to one’s heart
It feels good
To make a new start

It feels good
To make new friends
It feels good
To set new trends

It feels good
When someone misses you
It feels good
When you miss the same one too

It feels good
To fulfill a desire
It feels good
To help one whose life’s dire

It feels good
To lend a helping hand
It feels good
To support someone’s stand

It feels good
When things happen as they should
It feels good
When someone feels good

Colored Perspective

The whole world around us is as it is. Everyday its is evolving, adapting and changing itself as per our behavior. Thus it always tries to maintain itself in an equilibrium state.

Even then each one of us sees the world from a different perspective. It is same yet it is not the same ! Everybody has something different to say about the world.

Here i recalled the story of the elephant and blind men related to this point. Some blind men were taken near an elephant and told to feel the object in front of them and identify it. One blind man touched the legs and said it was a log of wood. Another held the trunk and said it was a big hose pipe. Another held the tail and said it was like a rope. One man touched its stomach and said it is a wall. One touched its ears and replied that it was a fan.

Its ok if they said different things about the elephant, because they were blind. They could not see the elephant. But whats wrong with us ?? Most of us are all right. Then why do we fail to see the big picture ? Why can’t we see the world as it is ? Why are we so biased sometimes ? It’s strange that if something bad is happening in people’s life then they will blame the  world around them. But if something good is coming up then they readily take all the credit !

It is like we people are wearing shaded specs. We see the world shaded by the color of the glasses. And we believe firmly that whatever we see is real and obvious. So there is almost no scope of change in our viewpoints. Sometimes we are ever ready to fight that what we see is correct without even listening to others views ! Thus different people view the same world from different perspectives.

Examples in point – Some believe that the world will end in the end of year 2012. While others (like me) are sure that nothing so catastrophic will happen so soon. Some see the world polluted and depleted of its resources. While others contribute their share in doing whatever they can instead of just complaining. Some see the world filled with war and crime. While others promote peace and good will.

The world is great. It is as it is. It is not going to change drastically just by our thoughts. So why color our views about the world. Why not accept it as it is. And i don’t think it is all that difficult. We just need to remove our colored glasses. It’s as simple as that.
