Killa: Movie Review

Killa (a fort) is the story of a 11 year old boy, Chinmay. Its a story about learning things by oneself. Its a story about facing challenges. Its a story about losing one’s father. Its a story about the beautiful mom-son bond. Its a story about relocating. Its a story about making friends. Its a story about growing up. Its a story about learning to live life!

This movie has been shot in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, India. The cinematography is awesome! The endless rains. The fort. Moss growing in the crevasses of the fort walls. Lush green surroundings.

The roaring sea. A lighthouse! Pools filled to the brim with cool blue water. Fishes and crabs. Coconut trees. It has been captured  in such a beautiful way, that i am sure you will feel like visiting this place.

Chinmay is a young, introvert boy who has recently lost his father and has to relocate to a village due to transfer of his mother’s government job. The movie depicts how he adapts to changes in his life both outside and within. The mother and son relationship is brilliantly played by both the actors. Many a times they need not say a word, their expressions are sufficient to know how they are feeling and what they want to convey to the audience.. Although they can’t exactly share their problems with each other, but they understand and support one another.

Another thing which i liked about the movie is that not each and every detail is presented to the user. The blocks are arranged just so that a person can understand the flow of the movie and connect the dots.

It brings back the growing up days of childhood. The nostalgia.. Times spent with friends. Cycle races. Exams in schools. Crushes. Fights and patching up among friends. The happiness of new school bag and books. Endless games with friends. Getting drenched in rain. And lot more!

Its a great movie. The performance of all members of the cast is brilliant. The cinamatography is amazing. The plot is nice and touching. Great music. Also, its available with English subtitles, so people not knowing Marathi can enjoy as well.

I just loved the poem which beautifully describes the plot of the movie. Although its best read in Marathi, however even the English translation is good.

The Sea bore an array of perils
A mighty storm ambushed the lone sailor
The sail snapped, the nails unhooked
The sailor persisted, unfazed by what lay ahead
Luckless, the knots of skill turned loose
He stood there alone, the storm slapped its noose
A life lived in benevolence will not let faith wither
He overcame fear and the storm lulled into slither
Courage of the universe, regathers in a single moment
A hundred arm’s strength regains, as the memory of mother returns

Deep, Isn’t it? 🙂

Plea of the Girl Child

I have big dreams in my heart,
I just want a push to start.
I will do everything i can,
Just let me go ahead with my plan.
Don’t pin me down, set me free,
Give me freedom, let me be me.

Give me your guidance and support,
I will be as strong as a huge fort.
Nurture me with love and care,
Even i can be your rightful heir.
Don’t pin me down, set me free,
Give me freedom, let me be me.

I am brave, I am strong,
I can tackle when things go wrong.
I can judge between wrong and right,
So trust me and have faith in my might.
Don’t pin me down, set me free,
Give me freedom, let me be me.

I will be there whenever you need,
With all my love and respect indeed.
Just one chance is all i ask,
To show my competence in my task.
Don’t pin me down, set me free,
Give me freedom, let me be me.

Don’t force me in a cage when i want to fly,
Don’t cut my wings when i want to soar high.
Don’t kill me as i want to live my dreams,
What will be achieved by silencing my screams?
Don’t pin me down, set me free,
Give me freedom, let me be me.

Daily Prompt: Say Your Name – Jayati

Jayati : Winner

My parents decided to name me Jayati when i won the first battle of my life. I was an underweight,  premature baby. By God’s grace and care of my parents and elders i survived and thus won that battle. That’s how i was named “Jayati”. My parents wanted me to successfully win all the battles of my life ahead, to face the challenges bravely and to stand out as a winner. I have tried to do my best to achieve this aim till now. Everyone faces challenges and crossroads in life and i started facing them since the day i was born. So i guess i have more experience now than my peers 😀

Although Shakespeare said that What is there in a name ? i believe that a lot is there in a name. Name is our identity. It is how we are known to others. I have also analyzed that in most cases one can find the traits of characteristics of name in people. For e.g. people whose names are related to music are usually good musicians or singers, people who are named after gods or goddesses are usually successful, people whose names mean beautiful are usually pretty. This is not the case all the time but as per my interaction its mostly true.

I just love my name. Actually speaking i am proud of it. I love my parents for giving me this name. I have tens of nicknames but my actual first name “Jayati” is my favorite. I like its sound. I like its spelling. I like it in every possible way. I like that it begins with the letter 10th letter J. Thus i will never change my name !

Weekly Photo Challenge: Forward

Here are a few images of my interpretation of “Forward”.

This is the lush green pathway which leads to my college IIIT-B.
At the entrance there is Goddess Saraswati, “The Goddess of Knowledge” guiding me in my life ahead !

This is the place where i learn something new everyday.
This is the place which makes me realize my capabilities & strengths.
This is the place where 3 things happen – growth, growth & growth.
This is the place which teaches me to look at life from a new perspective.
This is the place where each day is buzzing with a lot of activity.
This is the place where i made a lot of friends.
This is the place where i came to know myself.
This is the place where i move “Forward” !

Happy Engineers’ Day

We have the capability to bring a change,
We have the potential to make this world a better place,
We are the future of tomorrow !
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

Nothing is impossible for us,
We can do things nobody has ever dreamt,
We are the foundation of the world,
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

We are brave enough to accept any challenge,
We can work day and night to meet the deadlines,
We are true of our words,
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

Think twice before challenging us,
Because we are used to doing daunting things,
So most probably we will win 😎
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

We can build bridges between enemies,
Our skyscrapers can reach the stars,
However our thoughts can take us to a different world,
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

We rise with double strength if we fail,
We are brave enough to accept our mistakes,
We are smart enough not to repeat the same ones again 😉
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

We have revolutionary ideas in our minds,
We have a sense of pride in our hearts,
We have peace and serenity in our souls,
We are the engineers
We rock the world !

HAPPY ENGINEERS’ DAY TO ALL !!!

My First Post !

This is my first post. I was thinking what should i write. Then i thought, well let me just share my reasons of writing my blog.

All of us come in this world and want to be heard. We come and we go but our words, deeds and memories remain.Even i wanted to create something through which i can present myself to the world and that’s my blog !

Through this blog i would like to share my experiences, thoughts and feelings with the world. I would like to find people who have similar interests like me. And above all i would like to be a part of the “Writing Community” i.e. people who pen down their lives.
